Being passionate about Opera, Music Theatre and Chamber Music Irina Cherkasski developed her career as an Accompanist, Opera Repetiteur and Collaborative Pianist in three different countries.
Her earlier professional engagements included 10 years as a staff accompanist at prestigious Ippolitov–Ivanov College of Music (Moscow) and 6 years in the role of Principal Repetiteur for Opera New Zealand.
Since moving to Australia in 1999 Irina got engaged in numerous productions of Melbourne City Opera, Opera Australia and Gertrude Opera Studio as a repetiteur and coach.
Irina is a regular accompanist at VCA, Melbourne Chamber Choir, Choral Conductors Summer School and Sir Zelman Cowen School of Music at Monash University.
Irina is well known to the Melbourne concert scene as a creator and presenter of various theme programs of operatic and musical theatre repertoire.
These projects involved such renowned Australian singers as Liane Keegan, Tamzyn Alexander, Alexandra Oke, Carmela de Losinno, Marco Cinque, Emily Xiao Wong, Alison Lemoh, Alexandra Ioan, Michael Lapina, Rebecca Rashleigh, Lawrence Allan and many others.
Irina’s concert appearances include participation in Melbourne International Singers Festival 2019 at Deakin Edge Theatre, accompanying Russian Fairy Tale concert at Victorian Opera in August 2019, concerts at Atheneum club, Lyceum Club, St Paul’s Cathedral, St John’s in Southbank, St David’s Anglican Church Winter Concert Series, Holy Trinity Church, Nagambie Lakes Opera Festival, Montsalvat and various concert venues in Shepparton, Mansfield and Bendigo.
